SUPPORT STRUCTURES FOR PUPILS CAUSING CONCERN

Parent- teacher liaison

Parents will work collaboratively to arrive at better working solutions for pupils, when a need arises.

Pupil Support Plans

These plans are for pupils who are in danger of permanent exclusion. They last for twelve weeks.

PROCEDURES FOR DEALING WITH UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR

It is the responsibility of the teachers to monitor behaviour across the curriculum. They log all incident, which is also shared with parents.

If students cause persistent distractions through using the internet for uses other than learning, or disrupt learning in any other way (using the chat section for irrelevant communication, etc.) they may not be admitted to a lesson, and have to make up for their missed learning independently.

In the case of serious incidents, the Head teacher is the only member of staff who can sanction a fixed term or permanent exclusion. In the case of all exclusions, parents/guardians are informed in writing of the reasons for the exclusion and their right of appeal. Excluded pupils are provided with work for the duration of the exclusion.

Minor Incidents

These incidents are dealt with by the teacher and include, for example:  not following instructions; incomplete class work; no homework; lack of equipment.

Sanctions could include:

  • verbal reprimand
  • note to parent

Persistent incidents, or incidents of medium severity

These incidents must be recorded and shared with the Head. Unacceptable behaviour in this category includes:

  • Persistency of minor incidents as above
  • being continually off-task.

Headteacher’s sanctions include:

  • meeting with pupil independently (online)
  • support plan

Beaconline Admission Policy

We deliver quality virtual educational experiences to all our students, fostering a sense of belonging and respect for one another as well as providing the skills to solve real world problems through a love of lifelong learning.

Admissions –

Beaconline Learning is committed to welcoming students (aged 11-16) who reside in the United Kingdom and international students.

We are fully flexible in terms of the timing of admissions; we encourage families to register students for transfer to Beaconline Leaning at the usual points of entry but are fully prepared to accept students mid-school year, often at short notice if that is of benefit to the family.

When a learner is fully enrolled with Beaconline, we can confirm home-schooled hours with Local authorities if parents need further assistance.

Students for whom English is an additional language: please note that, whilst our curriculum and our intake are international, our courses are all taught through the medium of English and delivered by English-speaking, teachers. We need to draw your attention to the implication this has for students wishing to enrol regarding their language proficiency in English.

Beaconline Learning, maintains an Admissions Register which records the personal details of all students.

Behaviour

  • The centre reserves the right not to accept candidates on the basis of poor behavioural concerns and is under no obligation to enter into correspondence concerning such decisions.
  • Pupils come to Beaconline,on a 6-week observation, wherein if we feel that due to a pupil’s behaviour, the centre reserves the right to cancel the pupil’s admission
